Cycling ahead with our textile-based wearable technology
We were at the ETH booth in the Bürkliplatz fan zone during the UCI Road Cycling and Paracycling Championships
As an Institutional Partner, ETH Zurich had a booth at the UCI Road Cycling and Paracycling Championships in Zurich 21 - 29 September 2024. We were at the ETH booth in the Bürkliplatz fan zone during the event, where we demonstrated state-of-the-art wearable technology developed in our lab for movement monitoring to the general population and athletes. It was a chance for anyone to try our technology and alternative commercial options.
The fun began with cycling on a stationary bike, an easy 5-minute ride. Those up for a real challenge preferred the "ramp-up" test, where we increased resistance to the point of exhaustion. Participation surpassed our own expectations. It was satisfying for us scientists to find out first-hand just what people know about and expect of wearable technologies. The best part was seeing our own technology in action, with last-minute troubleshooting and quick fixes spicing up the experience.
Testing our technology in the field was not only useful but also inspiring. It will guide our future research and let people get to know new things developed at ETH Zurich. After all, we work for the general public and our technology will be out there some day in the future for everyone to use. Check out the post from the ETH Ambassendors for more details.
